Started out a strong week. Tuesday we had a good lesson with Brisa and filled out her ´ficha´ (Paper for baptism) and bought a milinesa sandwich

Wednesday we cleaned the church a little bit for the baptism, and only had one lesson with Silvia, our recent convert, and bought a milinesa sandwich.

Thursday we went and filled up the font in the church for the baptism, planned, taught lessons with Celeste (really good progressing investagador) did the ChuChuUa (Link from her, https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=umOCLJgZQYI) and Brisa. We went over the baptism questions for her interview, and her mom didn´t sign the ficha. we also got home 45 minutes late because the consistancy of the colectivos kinda suck. DIDNT BUY A MILINESA SANDWICH

Friday we had a zone training about ´How to reach our goals´ that was really good and informative. We went to Brisas for her interview, and she was sleeping, and her sister wouldn´t let us wake her up, So we went and taught a lesson to Silvias daughter, she wants to be baptized now! :) Then went back to brisas and she wasn´t home. Taught a less active family, and went back to brisas, still wasnt home, so we waited. after about 40 minutes, we went home. We didn´t have any contact with her that day, text, call, face to face, nothing. Yes, we got milinesa sandwiches.

Saturday... Dia de amor, dia de triste (sad) Went to Brisas in the morning and talked, she was scared to be baptized, she was afraid that after, she would get sick, or something else bad would happen. we had about an 1hr15min lesson with her getting rid of her doubts and fears about baptism. Elder Iongi and I taught, testified, and shared scriptures with her. She was ready and excited. So we set up a time to do the interview at 5. Came back after lunch and studies for the interview, and she was sleeping again UGH! the mom wouldnt wake her up and told us to come back a different day, we went on splits, and i stayed with the DL in my area, we contacted for an hour and went back to Brisas. We found her and talked to her, she said her mom didn´t want her to be baptized. After some convincing, we were able to talk to her mom. It wasn´t great, we testified about how ready her daughter was, and how great of a choice she was making, but the mom wouldn´t let anything change the fact that they are a Catholic family. We comited her to pray and ask God if this was his will for Brisa to be baptized, but I don´t think she will. Talked to brisa after, and let her know that this doesn´t change the fact that she is doing the right things with her life. She will be baptized, i just dont know when.
we got home and there was a huge party going on right outside of our house! they call it ¨carnival¨ It was loud, and there were a lot of people, and food carts. Yes we bought milinesa sandwiches.

Sunday, 0 investigadors came to church, then taught 2 or 3 lessons

Pday, didn´t get to email because the place was packed the whole day. but we talked to a lady that works at ChangoMas, and she seems promising. We are teaching her tonight!

Today, we had district meeting, and a solid lunch with hermana Avila (less active because of health, she is the sweetest lady, and cooks amazingly)

Transfers are next week, this could possibly be my last week in Santiago, hoping for another one. I want to finish things off with some of our really good investigadors, Elder Iongi, and Brisa. But whatever happens, im ready to ¨let go and let God¨

*We play a game that if you shoot a person while having eye contact with them with an imaginary blow dart gun, they have to completly go limp and fall, it is a great time, you cant move until somebody touches your ear. There have been some funny, interesting, and great positions people have been in, including when elder Ionge was hanging his clothes up outside, and elder Hogge shot him from inside the window

Nothing our of the ordinary this week. I forgot my Journal, so i cant get into the details and the little things that happened, but the biggest thing that happened is a baptism!

Friday, we had to go to a place called La Banda (45 min) to get the baptism gown for Gisela, we found an awesome park and obviously played on it for a little bit.
notice (Reserved for handicapped) sign behind elder Iongi, he had no Idea. lol.
We had to clean the chaple twice because after we cleaned friday, they had some sort of relif society thing, and made it dirty, so we cleanned again Saturday. The baptism was awesome, Hno. Rolondo Ruiz (my first convert) Baptized his son Nahuel, and wife Gisela. It was awesome seeing them all come together! Before they went in, Nahuel was nervous, so they knelt in prayer outside of the font! It all went good. They both had to be baptized twice, but they were baptized!!

Sunday, we took the colectivo to an investigators house (Brisa, she is being baptized this Saturday) and there was a guy KNOCKED OUT! he was covered in paint, probably drunk, and definitly was partying the night before. When we got off the collectivo, about 5 minutes later we saw him walking back, retracing the collectivo route. He missed his stop. lol it was fun to watch.

Nothing else really, enjoy the picture of the dog, even they think its way to hot here. :)

Just in case you guys thought i was kidding everytime i talk about how hot it is here... http://www.diariopanorama.com/seccion/locales_13/racord-santiago-la-ciudad-mas-calurosa-de l-mundo_a_184250

As for the week goes.. Ive kinda forgot.
We have been working (sweating) hard. We had divisions at one point, I was with elder tafur, the district leader. I don´t like him very much so it was a long day. but we got two fechas (baptism dates) that day. he doesnt try to build relationships with people when he teaches or contacts, so it was difficult.
the next day he went on divisions with the zone leaders, and when he got back, after about 2 minutes he was already getting mad at us for something. He always corrects everyword i say wrong in spanish, and i have told him multiple times how much i hate it, so as i was explaining it again, he was correcting me. That didn´t go over well.
Other than that, my companion is still aweome, we love eachother and are hoping for another transfer together.
On sunday, we got 66 contacts in the street. That was awesome, a lot of people sit outside with their families on sundays.
Then on monday we went to a soccer field with the other elders in the zone and played soccer, basketball, and ate steak. Then elder hogge and i found out we had to go to salta to finish our papers that day. so we hopped on the collectivo and took the 1 hour journey home to get ready. We finished our papers and wont have to go back to salta, so thats good. Nahuel (Ruiz morenos son) is doing awesome. we finished the lessons with him today and i gave him a ´stories of the book of mormon´ book to read. They are super ready for this saturday!!
Other than that, nothing too exciting.
Love you guys.

What a week. Elder Iongi and I set a comp goal to get 20 contacts every single day here. And we did successfully! 146 people were contacted this week. One day before lunch, we had 22, then ended the day with 38 and another day was 40!

Silvia´s baptism is this Saturday. We got all the paperwork filled out and she is ready to go! Wish us luck and send prayers. As for other investigadors, One girl named Brisa is still progressing, but she broke my pinky promis to come to church this week. You don´t break pinky promises, those are sacred. But she loves talking to us!

My comp is awesome. We have a really good time everyday, and we work hard too. Sometimes during the lessons, we will say something quick in english to eachother, and see if we can make the other person laught. He wins everytime. We also have awesome Rap battles inbetween lessons. (During our 30 minute walks between houses. Idk why we dont have bikes here.)

It was extremely hot this week, like always. A member said that one week, Santiago was the hottest part of the world, so thats fun.

Pday has been good. We played some basketball in the morning (yes, im still undefeted.) And i still havent recieved my 800 peso reimbursment so I had no money to buy food at ChangoMas today. Looks like Ill lose some weight! Nice!!

Tuesday at 11:30 at night, my 7 hour bus ride left for Salta so I could finish papers, that way ill be legal in this country. Once we got there I met up with an amigo de la CCM (shout out to Elder Ellis) Then we went and waited, and waited, and signed a paper, and waited, and waited, and answered a question or two. Then we got back on the bus and made the 7 hour trip back to my area. That was a long and kind of boring/useless day.

We had a good zone meeting on Friday, where one of the better looking hermanas in the zone told me ¨Elder, me gusta su corbata(SWORDFISH TIE NEVER FAILETH!!) Then at night, we made the 1 hour and 15 minute adventure out to a guy named Hno. Leborio. He wasn´t home, we think he might be dead because he is really old.

Saturday was my comps last lunch with our investigador we baptized. They made millinesa and it was awesome. Then they swapped words of love and thanks for eachother, it was really nice.

Sunday, E´Echeverria and E´Connolly packed up their stuff. Elder Ech finished his mission and Elder Connolly had 7 months here, so they were both definitely leaving. Church was in the night because a bunch of the members in the ward got back from their temple trip to Buenos Aires in the morning. We had 7 Investigadors come and it was Silvias 3rd, so she is ready for her baptism this saturday!

Today, at 3 we were in the bus termanal, Elder Echeverria left to salta, and Elder Connolly left to Tucuman to be a DL. Then after about 6 hours of waiting, Elder Hogge and I recieved our new companions. My comps name is Elder Iongi, He is a Tongan from Portland. We immedietly became friends, and I have a feeling that it will be a very successful transfer.

Love you all and would love to hear from you. Enjoy some pics
Stay sweet- Elder Beary

My comp finishes his mission this week. Hopefully we will end it with a baptism! Other than that, honestly nothing to talk about. New years was just like christmas, but with a lot more fireworks, The computer place blocked dropbox so i can't send pics on that anymore. New years was Elder Connollys 1 year mark and the 3rd was my comps 2 year mark. Other than that, just teaching, studdying, and walking. New comps for Elder Hogge and I next monday. Also, we both have to go to salta, (7 hour bus ride) tomorrow night at 11. we have to finish paperwork so we can stay in the country. Not to important if you ask me,. who needs to be legal. Everybody in the ward is going to the temple this week, (14 hour bus ride to buenos aires) so we will have to look for lunch appointments.

Last tuesday was pretty normal, but at the end of the day when we were waiting for the collectivo, it got pretty interesting. We had been waiting in a weird spot for about 50 minutes when my comp took my advice and started to walk to a different place. But we didn´t go to the normal spot where 2 different collectivos pass, we went to another random spot and Elder Echeverria said if the other one passes, we can run to where it picks us up so it passed and we ran, and ran, and ran. And he was leading and took us to a street that wasn't even close to the collectivo. So we missed it, then I told him we will walk to where I wanted to go, and as we turned the corner, a different one was coming. So we ran about two more blocks and got on. Once we were on, we recognized the people on the bus, it was the bus that passed by where we were originally waitng. ´Next time, im the guide´-Me

Christmas eve.
I bought a little christmas tree from a lady for 10 dollars. that was probably the highlight. Then just shared christmas messages with members and investigators. We then had dinner with the Ruiz Morenos (The guy we baptized) and that was really good. We ate a lot and sung hymns. They took us home at 11. We waited for midnight, because here, everybody stays awake and at 12 they shoot off fireworks. And the story of santa is that he comes when you least expect him, and you cant see him because of the fireworks. Kinda lame, but the night was fun.
Christmas I got to skype home. that was a solid time to see everybody. navidad.mormon.org

Friday was really hot and we walked a ton.

Saturday We tried to teach silvia (New investigator with closest baptism date) 3 times but she wasn´t home or was busy.

Sunday she didn´t come to church, but we had two others come so it wasn´t too bad. We also found out that elder hogge and i (Newbees) had to go to salta (7 hours away) to sign papers on monday.

Monday wasn´t pday because they made it wednesday. They don´t want us working on new years eve. So we went to chango mas and bought food, and got all ready for our trip, when the secretary called and said we weren´t going, and that we will go next week. That sucks because next week we will have to go on pday. So we worked monday and it wasnt too sucessful, I guess thats why its pday.

Tuesday we had to go to central for a meeting to discuss the goal for baptisms next month. the last two months goals were 22 and 20, but we only got 6 and 8. So it was my turn to say a number and i said 14, because thats how many companionships are in the zone, but everybody was so optomistic, (just like last month) that we could get 22. Its hard to think logically like I do when everybody else doesn´t.

That was my week. Have a good 5 days and I´ll write on Monday
